a 72,000 sf office building on an infill site located in downtown mountain view. located along evelyn avenue, the site faces the central expressway and lies mere steps from the mountain view station - a multi-modal hub for vta and caltrain. considering its prime location for public transit access, the project follows a strong sustainable design agenda through the use of cutting edge mechanical systems, regionally-harvested building materials, and a high performance glazing system.
the interior tenant improvement was designed for an established tech company looking to relocate and shake up how they work as an organization. private offices were replaced with open work stations organized around project-based teams. each group of workstations is then supported with shared support spaces such as open work tables, informal sitting areas, and small meeting rooms for private conversations. conference rooms were clustered around the double-height lobby to take advantage of natural light, increase transparency, as well as internal way-finding. the traditional staff breakroom was replaced with something more like a cafe, intended to strengthen company culture by getting employees away from their desks and talking with each other over lunch or a latte.
